II. COVID-19 and Governmental Religious activities Banning leading to global financial crisis very soon more than in 2008:
In this global situation of Corona-virus, the great image of unrevealed secrets are being displayed in this New Article here.
1. It is not a simple Gesture that All Nations fear rapid spreads of Corona-Virus to their local communities , while fearing to be among the most affected countries worldwide, Governments are suddenly closing religious activities, as well as other public activities that bring people together.
2.From Vatican to United States of America and in Africa as well fear of COVID-19 lead to closing of Churches in order to ban religious activities:
a) In the Republic of Ghana-Africa:Government banned religious activities, funerals, all other public gatherings for 4 weeks until further noticed.
b) In the Republic of Vatican-Europe: Pope Francis’ twin prayers for an “end to the pandemic” - Vatican News. Church of England suspends all services over coronavirus.
c)In the United States of America-America: So some churches are taking more extreme measures, like suspending regular worship services altogether, notes the New York Times: In a dramatic move to slow the spread of the coronavirus in one of the most affected regions of the country, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle suspended all public celebration of Mass, effective immediately, becoming the first Catholic archdiocese in the country to do so…. It was the most significant example of how the coronavirus is increasingly disrupting religious life across the United States, from a mosque in the Seattle area that canceled traditional Friday prayer services last week to Kentucky, where the governor on Wednesday urged all churches to cancel services. Also on Wednesday, the Episcopal bishops in Virginia and Washington, D.C., announced that all churches in the dioceses would be closed for two weeks, including the Washington National Cathedral, which has held presidential funerals and is a focal point of Christian life in the capital. In some areas, believers of all types are probably paying attention to declarations by public health experts and elected officials urging avoidance of religious or non-religious events involving “large audiences.” But there’s often fine print that may not be so carefully heard or observed, as in California, where Governor Gavin Newsom has called for the suspension of gatherings of more than 250 people. Public health officials added this warning: The California recommendations say small events at venues that do not allow 6 feet of space between people should be postponed or canceled. Gatherings of people at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19 should be limited to no more than 10. The United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines it as “remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance” whenever possible.
d) In the New Zealand-Pacific:The Government has banned mass gatherings as it prepares for the health and economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a ban of gatherings of more than 500 people in a bid to head off the worst of the coronavirus outbreak, while signalling COVID-19 financial impact may be worse than that of the 2008 global financial crisis. The Philippine the Department of Interior and Local Government also urged the local governments and the Philippine National Police to “strictly prohibit” gatherings including religious activities and worship services.
e) In the South Korea-Asia, a secretive religious cult was blamed for triggering the outbreak of the virus in the country. Reuters reported on March 7 that more than half of South Korea’s total number of positive cases were “linked” to members of Shincheonji Church.
f)Coronavirus in the Caribbean-Americas restricting travels and gatherings :Dominican Republic and Jamaican
III.Closing Churches now has become global and it is only a matter of the Common Good.
1.Rome cardinal closes all churches, then modifies decision:When De Donatis ordered the closure of churches in Rome March 12, he said he recognized what a huge step it was but, given the threat the coronavirus poses for the entire Italian health system, closing the churches was a matter of acting for the common good.
The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale in Rome, titular church of Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin of Newark, N.J., is seen March 13, 2020. Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, papal vicar of Rome, announced March 12 that all churches would be closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. He modified the order the next day, allowing pastors to make the choice to open, but only if people maintain a safe distance from one another. (CNS/Junno Arocho Esteves).
Instead, he said, he was trying to honor the Gospel by protecting human life. The coronavirus, he said, "is spreading exponentially. In a few days, the number of people infected doubled, and it is not difficult to predict that in two months we will reach the order of tens of thousands of people in Italy alone." "The risk of health care structures collapsing is evident," he said. "An elevated number of people could lose their lives, especially the elderly and vulnerable. We can contain this tragic eventuality only by applying measures to stop the contagion and allow the national health service to reorganize." "What does the Lord ask of us? What is his will, which we must obey? It is to do our best and make our contribution to the health of everyone," the cardinal wrote. "Draw close to one another — not physically, but with solidarity." The fact that Masses cannot be celebrated publicly at least until April 3 is a "painful sacrifice," the cardinal said, but the "first spiritual requirement" of Catholics is "the charity of care for our brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, going to church is no different than going anywhere: There is a risk of contagion."
ROME — Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, papal vicar of Rome, said he spoke to Pope Francis March 12 before ordering the closure of all churches in Rome because of the coronavirus pandemic; the next day, he said he spoke to the pope again and modified his order. While Masses with the public present were banned March 9 throughout Italy, churches remained open for personal prayer. Throughout the week, the Italian government enacted increasingly stricter measures designed to encourage people to stay home and to limit opportunities for people to unknowingly spread the virus to others.
IV.Our Almighty God through Jesus Christ as He did in John 2:12-25 now used Corona-virus (COVID-19) to Clean His Church.
1.The
current praying structures as based on the event happened on 31 October
2017 of a reforming Catholic Confession when the Jesuits were
cerebrating End of Protestantism after 500 years of initiation of
Reformation by Martin Luther , the Global Christian Churches both so
called Protestants all united with ROMAN Catholic Church which signed a
covenant to work together as one.2.This covenant was a biblical prophetic event in Daniel 9:26-27 that aims to be a beginning point of the last 1 week that makes 7 years from October 31st, 2017 to October 15th, 2024 the mark of 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ.
3.Despite ignoring to respect the 4th Commandment of Almighty God that prohibits human kind to disobey 7th Day Sabbath by keeping it Holy, the Catholic Church of ROME continues promote Common Good which is mentioned in the Catholic Social teachings the Catechism as some thing that can not be achieved unless the Global Human Kind accepts SUN-DAY as a Day of rest and worshiping , which is a Mark of Papacy, other wise called Mark of the Beast in the Holy Bible the Revelation 13:1-18, with critical emphasis made on the Number of the Beast which is 666 and that is the number of POPE of Catholic Church that calls Himself Vicar of Son of God.
4.Roman Catholic Works for SATANI currently through POPE Francis in benefit from COVID-19 for Universal Common Good: Global Sunday Law to start a One Global Satanic Church that rests and worships on Sundays leading to Global financial crisis severe than that of the 2008.
5.Jesus Christ said "Where Two or Three Are Gathered" (Matthew 18:20) is So Important,
6."What does the Lord ask of us? What is his will, which we must obey? It is to do our best and make our contribution to the health of everyone," the cardinal wrote. "Draw close to one another — not physically, but with solidarity." The fact that Masses cannot be celebrated publicly at least until April 3 is a "painful sacrifice," the cardinal said, but the "first spiritual requirement" of Catholics is "the charity of care for our brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, going to church is no different than going anywhere: There is a risk of contagion."This makes the proof that Catholic Church does't need human kind to keep a prayer as a solution to COVID-19 on Saturdays the 7th Day Sabbath, but needs to protect the Common Good" When De Donatis ordered the closure of churches in Rome March 12, he said he recognized what a huge step it was but, given the threat the coronavirus poses for the entire Italian health system, closing the churches was a matter of acting for the common good. ".
7. Jesus Christ in His preparation to come back to seize the Leadership of this world that is occupied by the PAPACY headed by Pope Francis, accepts CORONAVIRUS"COVID-19" to come as a sample of one of the 7 plagues soon to fall on the people who will accept Sunday Law"Universal Common Good" as prophesied in Mathhew 24:15 and Daniel 7:1-28 in only 1335 days after fixing Sunday Law will stand in His place,Daniel 12:9-13, however, as Jesus Christ needs to clean His church, He doesn't want this time people to follow the 31/10/2017 covenant in His Name, He decides to close all Religious activities that are partaken under the name of Almighty God to stop in this year 2020 , as in the year 2021 SATAN is going to use Worldwide Governments to support POPE Francis's Laudato SI 237 Sunday Law"Common Good" and start worshiping SATAN after this massive closure of religious activities by Worldwide Governments as they will soon reject totally 10 Commandments of Almighty God enforcing their citizens to Rest and worship on SUN-DAY SATANIC Apollo god worshiping day and by rejecting the 4th Commandment of God of keeping the 7th Day Sabbath Holy , replacing it by keeping the 1st Day Sunday False Sabbath , aided by government to enforce it by Law making the whole world sin against Almighty God, and that will bring a total condemnation by Almighty God to the whole humanity and leading to the 7 plagues that will be more worse than CORONAVIRUS , from February 7th -16th, 2024 to 15th October 2024 , the Day of 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ.
8. Jesus Christ is using COVID-19 So he made it as a whip out of cords " John 2:15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” "to remove POPE Francis and all Protestants that accepted to unit with Pope Francis in a Reforming Catholic Confession covenant on 31/10/2017 from all churches for a whiole will not be attending to pray in the name of Jesus Christ , they will need personal and individual decisions to say again Jesus Christ as Jesus christ will be judging each and everyone on which part everyone pays in obeyinhg 10 commandments of Almighty God and why any of human kind decides to desobey 4th Commandment of keeping the 7th Day Sabbath Holy, to bring every human kind on his own decision to obey or desobey Almighty God's 4th Commandment of keeping the 7th Day Sabbath Holy or reject it to be accountable of that decision during the 7 plagues that will come from February 7-16 in 2024 and worse than CORONAVIRUS"COVID-19" to exterminate them all who worship and rest on SUNDAY the mark of the Beast of Revelation 14:9-13. and by that Jesus Christ is going to keep churches free of attendances until National Sunday Laws are enforced He will live the houses in the hands of Papacy but His remnants will follow Him in the wildness Revelation 12:1-17 to clean His Church as SATAN via the Roman Jesuit Pope is preparing to use the Church in the name of Jesus Christ in opposite purpose to worship SATAN in Sunday Law enforcement in 2021 through 2024.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
Jesus Clears the Temple Courts
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So
he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both
sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and
overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”[c]
18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After
he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said.
Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.[d] 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
The Desire of Ages
Chapter 16—In His Temple
This chapter is based on John 2:12-22.
“After
this He went down to Capernaum, He, and His mother, and His brethren,
and His disciples: and they continued there not many days. And the Jews’
Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.”
In
this journey, Jesus joined one of the large companies that were making
their way to the capital. He had not yet publicly announced His mission,
and He mingled unnoticed with the throng. Upon these occasions, the
coming of the Messiah, to which such prominence had been given by the
ministry of John, was often the theme of conversation. The hope of
national greatness was dwelt upon with kindling enthusiasm. Jesus knew
that this hope was to be disappointed, for it was founded on a
misinterpretation of the Scriptures. With deep earnestness He explained
the prophecies, and tried to arouse the people to a closer study of
God's word. The
Jewish leaders had instructed the people that at Jerusalem they were to
be taught to worship God. Here during the Passover week large numbers
assembled, coming from all parts of Palestine, and even from distant
lands. The temple courts were filled with a promiscuous throng. Many
were unable to bring with them the sacrifices that were to be offered
up as typifying the one great Sacrifice. For the convenience of these,
animals were bought and sold in the outer court of the temple. Here all
classes of people assembled to purchase their offerings. Here all
foreign money was exchanged for the coin of the sanctuary. Every
Jew was required to pay yearly a half shekel as “a ransom for his
soul;” and the money thus collected was used for the support of the
temple. Exodus 30:12-16.
Besides this, large sums were brought as freewill offerings, to be
deposited in the temple treasury. And it was required that all foreign
coin should be changed for a coin called the temple shekel, which was
accepted for the service of the sanctuary. The money changing gave
opportunity for fraud and extortion, and it had grown into a disgraceful
traffic, which was a source of revenue to the priests. The
dealers demanded exorbitant prices for the animals sold, and they
shared their profits with the priests and rulers, who thus enriched
themselves at the expense of the people. The worshipers had been taught
to believe that if they did not offer sacrifice, the blessing of God
would not rest on their children or their lands. Thus a high price for
the animals could be secured; for after coming so far, the people would
not return to their homes without performing the act of devotion for
which they had come. A
great number of sacrifices were offered at the time of the Passover,
and the sales at the temple were very large. The consequent confusion
indicated a noisy cattle market rather than the sacred temple of God.
There could be heard sharp bargaining, the lowing of cattle, the
bleating of sheep, the cooing of doves, mingled with the chinking of
coin and angry disputation. So great was the confusion that the
worshipers were disturbed, and the words addressed to the Most High were
drowned in the uproar that invaded the temple. The Jews were
exceedingly proud of their piety. They rejoiced over their temple, and
regarded a word spoken in its disfavor as blasphemy; they were very
rigorous in the performance of ceremonies connected with it; but the
love of money had overruled their scruples. They were scarcely aware how
far they had wandered from the original purpose of the service
instituted by God Himself. When
the Lord descended upon Mount Sinai, the place was consecrated by His
presence. Moses was commanded to put bounds around the mount and
sanctify it, and the word of the Lord was heard in warning:
“Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch
the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to
death: there shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned,
or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live.” Exodus 19:12, 13. [COVID-19 Jesus Christ is using COVID-19 to clean the churches , to remove all pastors and priests who gain salaries from offerings and tenth in the name of Jesus Christ as Christians while they failed to teach their church members about 7th Day Sabbath to keep it holy,, as the seal of Almighty God, the 4th commandment and thus they are going to lose their monthly salaries as their churches were closed by COVID-19 and that is how Jesus Christ is taking them and their members outside all Worldwide churches to judge every christian individually before the close of probation comes first for all 7th day Adventists before the fixing of mark of the beast "Sunday Law" while probation will be closing for the rest of human kind later in 3 years after Sunday Law to be enacted in United States of America(USA) and spread in all Nations worldwide accompanying this coronavirus pandemic"COVID-19" , however, after close of probation in 7thto 16th February 2024 all who attended Sunday Churches during National Sunday Laws periods will face 7 plagues and die at the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ on 15th October, 2024, midnight.{Thus was taught the lesson that wherever God manifests His presence, the place is holy. The precincts of God's temple should have been regarded as sacred. But in the strife for gain, all this was lost sight of. The priests and rulers were called to be the representatives of God to the nation; they should have corrected the abuses of the temple court. They should have given to the people an example of integrity and compassion. Instead of studying their own profit, they should have considered the situation and needs of the worshipers, and should have been ready to assist those who were not able to buy the required sacrifices. But this they did not do. Avarice had hardened their hearts. There came to this feast those who were suffering, those who were in want and distress. The blind, the lame, the deaf, were there. Some were brought on beds. Many came who were too poor to purchase the humblest offering for the Lord, too poor even to buy food with which to satisfy their own hunger. These were greatly distressed by the statements of the priests. The priests boasted of their piety; they claimed to be the guardians of the people; but they were without sympathy or compassion. The poor, the sick, the dying, made their vain plea for favor. Their suffering awakened no pity in the hearts of the priests. As Jesus came into the temple, He took in the whole scene. He saw the unfair transactions. He saw the distress of the poor, who thought that without shedding of blood there would be no forgiveness for their sins. He saw the outer court of His temple converted into a place of unholy traffic. The sacred enclosure had become one vast exchange. Christ saw that something must be done. Numerous ceremonies were enjoined upon the people without the proper instruction as to their import. The worshipers offered their sacrifices without understanding that they were typical of the only perfect Sacrifice. And among them, unrecognized and unhonored, stood the One symbolized by all their service. He had given directions in regard to the offerings. He understood their symbolical value, and He saw that they were now perverted and misunderstood. Spiritual worship was fast disappearing. No link bound the priests and rulers to their God. Christ's work was to establish an altogether different worship. With searching glance, Christ takes in the scene before Him as He stands upon the steps of the temple court. With prophetic eye He looks into futurity, and sees not only years, but centuries and ages. He sees how priests and rulers will turn the needy from their right, and forbid that the gospel shall be preached to the poor. He sees how the love of God will be concealed from sinners, and men will make merchandise of His grace. As He beholds the scene, indignation, authority, and power are expressed in His countenance. The attention of the people is attracted to Him. The eyes of those engaged in their unholy traffic are riveted upon His face. They cannot withdraw their gaze. They feel that this Man reads their inmost thoughts, and discovers their hidden motives. Some attempt to conceal their faces, as if their evil deeds were written upon their countenances, to be scanned by those searching eyes. The confusion is hushed. The sound of traffic and bargaining has ceased. The silence becomes painful. A sense of awe overpowers the assembly. It is as if they were arraigned before the tribunal of God to answer for their deeds. Looking upon Christ, they behold divinity flash through the garb of humanity. The Majesty of heaven stands as the Judge will stand at the last day,—not now encircled with the glory that will then attend Him, but with the same power to read the soul. His eye sweeps over the multitude, taking in every individual. His form seems to rise above them in commanding dignity, and a divine light illuminates His countenance. He speaks, and His clear, ringing voice—the same that upon Mount Sinai proclaimed the law that priests and rulers are transgressing—is heard echoing through the arches of the temple: “Take these things hence; make not My Father's house an house of merchandise.” Slowly descending the steps, and raising the scourge of cords gathered up on entering the enclosure, He bids the bargaining company depart from the precincts of the temple. With a zeal and severity He has never before manifested, He overthrows the tables of the money-changers. The coin falls, ringing sharply upon the marble pavement. None presume to question His authority. None dare stop to gather up their ill-gotten gain. Jesus does not smite them with the whip of cords, but in His hand that simple scourge seems terrible as a flaming sword. Officers of the temple, speculating priests, brokers and cattle traders, with their sheep and oxen, rush from the place, with the one thought of escaping from the condemnation of His presence. A panic sweeps over the multitude, who feel the overshadowing of His divinity. Cries of terror escape from hundreds of blanched lips. Even the disciples tremble. They are awestruck by the words and manner of Jesus, so unlike His usual demeanor. They remember that it is written of Him, “The zeal of Thine house hath eaten Me up.” Psalm 69:9. Soon the tumultuous throng with their merchandise are far removed from the temple of the Lord. The courts are free from unholy traffic, and a deep silence and solemnity settles upon the scene of confusion. The presence of the Lord, that of old sanctified the mount, has now made sacred the temple reared in His honor. In the cleansing of the temple, Jesus was announcing His mission as the Messiah, and entering upon His work. That temple, erected for the abode of the divine Presence, was designed to be an object lesson for Israel and for the world. From eternal ages it was God's purpose that every created being, from the bright and holy seraph to man, should be a temple for the indwelling of the Creator. Because of sin, humanity ceased to be a temple for God. Darkened and defiled by evil, the heart of man no longer revealed the glory of the Divine One. But by the incarnation of the Son of God, the purpose of Heaven is fulfilled. God dwells in humanity, and through saving grace the heart of man becomes again His temple. God designed that the temple at Jerusalem should be a continual witness to the high destiny open to every soul. But the Jews had not understood the significance of the building they regarded with so much pride. They did not yield themselves as holy temples for the Divine Spirit. The courts of the temple at Jerusalem, filled with the tumult of unholy traffic, represented all too truly the temple of the heart, defiled by the presence of sensual passion and unholy thoughts. In cleansing the temple from the world's buyers and sellers, Jesus announced His mission to cleanse the heart from the defilement of sin,—from the earthly desires, the selfish lusts, the evil habits, that corrupt the soul. “The Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers’ soap: and He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver.” Malachi 3:1-3. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17. No man can of himself cast out the evil throng that have taken possession of the heart. Only Christ can cleanse the soul temple. But He will not force an entrance. He comes not into the heart as to the temple of old; but He says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.” Revelation 3:20. He will come, not for one day merely; for He says, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; ... and they shall be My people.” “He will subdue our iniquities; and Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” 2 Corinthians 6:16; Micah 7:19. His presence will cleanse and sanctify the soul, so that it may be a holy temple unto the Lord, and “an habitation of God through the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:21, 22. Overpowered with terror, the priests and rulers had fled from the temple court, and from the searching glance that read their hearts. In their flight they met others on their way to the temple, and bade them turn back, telling them what they had seen and heard. Christ looked upon the fleeing men with yearning pity for their fear, and their ignorance of what constituted true worship. In this scene He saw symbolized the dispersion of the whole Jewish nation for their wickedness and impenitence. And why did the priests flee from the temple? Why did they not stand their ground? He who commanded them to go was a carpenter's son, a poor Galilean, without earthly rank or power. Why did they not resist Him? Why did they leave the gain so ill acquired, and flee at the command of One whose outward appearance was so humble? Christ spoke with the authority of a king, and in His appearance, and in the tones of His voice, there was that which they had no power to resist. At the word of command they realized, as they had never realized before, their true position as hypocrites and robbers. When divinity flashed through humanity, not only did they see indignation on Christ's countenance; they realized the import of His words. They felt as if before the throne of the eternal Judge, with their sentence passed on them for time and for eternity. For a time they were convinced that Christ was a prophet; and many believed Him to be the Messiah. The Holy Spirit flashed into their minds the utterances of the prophets concerning Christ. Would they yield to this conviction? Repent they would not. They knew that Christ's sympathy for the poor had been aroused. They knew that they had been guilty of extortion in their dealings with the people. Because Christ discerned their thoughts they hated Him. His public rebuke was humiliating to their pride, and they were jealous of His growing influence with the people. They determined to challenge Him as to the power by which He had driven them forth, and who gave Him this power.Slowly and thoughtfully, but with hate in their hearts, they returned to the temple. But what a change had taken place during their absence! When they fled, the poor remained behind; and these were now looking to Jesus, whose countenance expressed His love and sympathy. With tears in His eyes, He said to the trembling ones around Him: Fear not; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me. For this cause came I into the world. The people pressed into Christ's presence with urgent, pitiful appeals: Master, bless me. His ear heard every cry. With pity exceeding that of a tender mother He bent over the suffering little ones. All received attention. Everyone was healed of whatever disease he had. The dumb opened their lips in praise; the blind beheld the face of their Restorer. The hearts of the sufferers were made glad. As the priests and temple officials witnessed this great work, what a revelation to them were the sounds that fell on their ears! The people were relating the story of the pain they had suffered, of their disappointed hopes, of painful days and sleepless nights. When the last spark of hope seemed to be dead, Christ had healed them. The burden was so heavy, one said; but I have found a helper. He is the Christ of God, and I will devote my life to His service. Parents said to their children, He has saved your life; lift up your voice and praise Him. The voices of children and youth, fathers and mothers, friends and spectators, blended in thanksgiving and praise. Hope and gladness filled their hearts. Peace came to their minds. They were restored soul and body, and they returned home, proclaiming everywhere the matchless love of Jesus. At the crucifixion of Christ, those who had thus been healed did not join with the rabble throng in crying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him.” Their sympathies were with Jesus; for they had felt His great sympathy and wonderful power. They knew Him to be their Saviour; for He had given them health of body and soul. They listened to the preaching of the apostles, and the entrance of God's word into their hearts gave them understanding. They became agents of God's mercy, and instruments of His salvation. The crowd that had fled from the temple court after a time slowly drifted back. They had partially recovered from the panic that had seized them, but their faces expressed irresolution and timidity. They looked with amazement on the works of Jesus, and were convicted that in Him the prophecies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled. The sin of the desecration of the temple rested, in a great degree, upon the priests. It was by their arrangement that the court had been turned into a market place. The people were comparatively innocent. They were impressed by the divine authority of Jesus; but with them the influence of the priests and rulers was paramount. They regarded Christ's mission as an innovation, and questioned His right to interfere with what was permitted by the authorities of the temple. They were offended because the traffic had been interrupted, and they stifled the convictions of the Holy Spirit. Above all others the priests and rulers should have seen in Jesus the anointed of the Lord; for in their hands were the sacred scrolls that described His mission, and they knew that the cleansing of the temple was a manifestation of more than human power. Much as they hated Jesus, they could not free themselves from the thought that He might be a prophet sent by God to restore the sanctity of the temple. With a deference born of this fear, they went to Him with the inquiry, “What sign showest Thou unto us, seeing that Thou doest these things?” Jesus had shown them a sign. In flashing light into their hearts, and in doing before them the works which the Messiah was to do, He had given convincing evidence of His character. Now when they asked for a sign, He answered them by a parable, showing that He read their malice, and saw to what lengths it would lead them. “Destroy this temple,” He said, “and in three days I will raise it up.” In these words His meaning was twofold. He referred not only to the destruction of the Jewish temple and worship, but to His own death,—the destruction of the temple of His body. This the Jews were already plotting. As the priests and rulers returned to the temple, they had proposed to kill Jesus, and thus rid themselves of the troubler. Yet when He set before them their purpose, they did not understand Him. They took His words as applying only to the temple at Jerusalem, and with indignation exclaimed, “Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt Thou rear it up in three days?” Now they felt that Jesus had justified their unbelief, and they were confirmed in their rejection of Him. Christ did not design that His words should be understood by the unbelieving Jews, nor even by His disciples at this time. He knew that they would be misconstrued by His enemies, and would be turned against Him. At His trial they would be brought as an accusation, and on Calvary they would be flung at Him as a taunt. But to explain them now would give His disciples a knowledge of His sufferings, and bring upon them sorrow which as yet they were not able to bear. And an explanation would prematurely disclose to the Jews the result of their prejudice and unbelief. Already they had entered upon a path which they would steadily pursue until He should be led as a lamb to the slaughter. It was for the sake of those who should believe on Him that these words of Christ were spoken. He knew that they would be repeated. Being spoken at the Passover, they would come to the ears of thousands, and be carried to all parts of the world. After He had risen from the dead, their meaning would be made plain. To many they would be conclusive evidence of His divinity. Because of their spiritual darkness, even the disciples of Jesus often failed of comprehending His lessons. But many of these lessons were made plain to them by subsequent events. When He walked no more with them, His words were a stay to their hearts. As referring to the temple at Jerusalem, the Saviour's words, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up,” had a deeper meaning than the hearers perceived. Christ was the foundation and life of the temple. Its services were typical of the sacrifice of the Son of God. The priesthood was established to represent the mediatorial character and work of Christ. The entire plan of sacrificial worship was a foreshadowing of the Saviour's death to redeem the world. There would be no efficacy in these offerings when the great event toward which they had pointed for ages was consummated. Since the whole ritual economy was symbolical of Christ, it had no value apart from Him. When the Jews sealed their rejection of Christ by delivering Him to death, they rejected all that gave significance to the temple and its services. Its sacredness had departed. It was doomed to destruction. From that day sacrificial offerings and the service connected with them were meaningless. Like the offering of Cain, they did not express faith in the Saviour. In putting Christ to death, the Jews virtually destroyed their temple. When Christ was crucified, the inner veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom, signifying that the great final sacrifice had been made, and that the system of sacrificial offerings was forever at an end. “In three days I will raise it up.” In the Saviour's death the powers of darkness seemed to prevail, and they exulted in their victory. But from the rent sepulcher of Joseph, Jesus came forth a conqueror. “Having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them.” Colossians 2:15. By virtue of His death and resurrection He became the minister of the “true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.” Hebrews 8:2. Men reared the Jewish tabernacle; men builded the Jewish temple; but the sanctuary above, of which the earthly was a type, was built by no human architect. “Behold the Man whose name is The Branch; ... He shall build the temple of the Lord; and He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and He shall be a priest upon His throne.” Zechariah 6:12, 13.The sacrificial service that had pointed to Christ passed away; but the eyes of men were turned to the true sacrifice for the sins of the world. The earthly priesthood ceased; but we look to Jesus, the minister of the new covenant, and “to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” “The way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: ... but Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, ... by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” Hebrews 12:24; 9:8-12. “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25. Though the ministration was to be removed from the earthly to the heavenly temple; though the sanctuary and our great high priest would be invisible to human sight, yet the disciples were to suffer no loss thereby. They would realize no break in their communion, and no diminution of power because of the Saviour's absence. While Jesus ministers in the sanctuary above, He is still by His Spirit the minister of the church on earth. He is withdrawn from the eye of sense, but His parting promise is fulfilled, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:20. While He delegates His power to inferior ministers, His energizing presence is still with His church. “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, ... Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16.}]
The Great Controversy
Chapter 38—The Final Warning
“I
saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the
earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong
voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the
habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of
every unclean and hateful bird.” “And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her
sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:1, 2, 4.
This scripture points forward to a time when the announcement of the fall of Babylon, as made by the second angel of Revelation 14 (verse 8),
is to be repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which
have been entering the various organizations that constitute Babylon,
since that message was first given, in the summer of 1844. A terrible
condition of the religious world is here described. With every rejection
of truth the minds of the people will become darker, their hearts more
stubborn, until they are entrenched in an infidel hardihood. In
defiance of the warnings which God has given, they will continue to
trample upon one of the precepts of the Decalogue, until they are led to
persecute those who hold it sacred. Christ is set at nought in the
contempt placed upon His word and His people. As the teachings of
spiritualism are accepted by the churches, the restraint
imposed upon the carnal heart is removed, and the profession of
religion will become a cloak to conceal the basest iniquity. A belief in
spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and
doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt
in the churches. Of
Babylon, at the time brought to view in this prophecy, it is declared:
“Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her
iniquities.” Revelation 18:5.
She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to
fall upon her. But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the
visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that
they partake not of her sins and “receive not of her plagues.” Hence
the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening
the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice,
announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call
is heard: “Come out of her, My people.” These announcements, uniting
with the third angel's message, constitute the final warning to be given
to the inhabitants of the earth. Fearful
is the issue to which the world is to be brought. The powers of earth,
uniting to war against the commandments of God, will decree that “all,
both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond” (Revelation 13:16),
shall conform to the customs of the church by the observance of the
false sabbath. All who refuse compliance will be visited with civil
penalties, and it will finally be declared that they are deserving of
death. On the other hand, the law of God enjoining the Creator's rest
day demands obedience and threatens wrath against all who transgress its
precepts.With
the issue thus clearly brought before him, whoever shall trample upon
God's law to obey a human enactment receives the mark of the beast; he
accepts the sign of allegiance to the power which he chooses to obey
instead of God. The warning from heaven is: “If any man worship the
beast and
his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the
same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out
without mixture into the cup of His indignation.” Revelation 14:9, 10. But
not one is made to suffer the wrath of God until the truth has been
brought home to his mind and conscience, and has been rejected. There
are many who have never had an opportunity to hear the special truths
for this time. The obligation of the fourth commandment has never been
set before them in its true light. He who reads every heart and tries
every motive will leave none who desire a knowledge of the truth, to be
deceived as to the issues of the controversy. The decree is not to be
urged upon the people blindly. Everyone is to have sufficient light to
make his decision intelligently.The
Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth
especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear
upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who
serve God and those who serve Him not. While the observance of the false
sabbath in compliance with the law of the state, contrary to the fourth
commandment, will be an avowal of allegiance to a power that is in
opposition to God, the keeping of the true Sabbath, in obedience to
God's law, is an evidence of loyalty to the Creator. While one class, by
accepting the sign of submission to earthly powers, receive the mark of
the beast, the other, choosing the token of allegiance to divine
authority, receive the seal of God. Heretofore
those who presented the truths of the third angel's message have often
been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious
intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and
state would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God,
have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently
declared that this land could never become other than what it has
been—the defender of religious freedom. But as
the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the
event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the
third message will produce an effect which it could not have had
before. In
every generation God has sent His servants to rebuke sin, both in the
world and in the church. But the people desire smooth things spoken to
them, and the pure, unvarnished truth is not acceptable. Many reformers,
in entering upon their work, determined to exercise great prudence in
attacking the sins of the church and the nation. They hoped, by the
example of a pure Christian life, to lead the people back to the
doctrines of the Bible. But the Spirit of God came upon them as it came
upon Elijah, moving him to rebuke the sins of a wicked king and an
apostate people; they could not refrain from preaching the plain
utterances of the Bible—doctrines which they had been reluctant to
present. They were impelled to zealously declare the truth and the
danger which threatened souls. The words which the Lord gave them they
uttered, fearless of consequences, and the people were compelled to hear
the warning. Thus
the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time comes
for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through
humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves
to His service. The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of
His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith
and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the
words which God gives them. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The
fearful results of enforcing the observances of the church by civil
authority, the inroads of spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress
of the papal power—all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the
people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have
never heard words like these. In amazement they hear
the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors
and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven.
As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are
these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things,
to soothe their fears and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many
refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men and demand a plain
“Thus saith the Lord,” the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old,
filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the
message as of Satan and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and
persecute those who proclaim it. As
the controversy extends into new fields and the minds of the people are
called to God's downtrodden law, Satan is astir. The power attending
the message will only madden those who oppose it. The clergy will put
forth almost superhuman efforts to shut away the light lest it should
shine upon their flocks. By every means at their command they will
endeavor to suppress the discussion of these vital questions. The church
appeals to the strong arm of civil power, and, in this work, papists
and Protestants unite. As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes
more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment
keepers. They will be threatened with fines and imprisonment, and some
will be offered positions of influence, and other rewards and
advantages, as inducements to renounce their faith. But their steadfast
answer is: “Show us from the word of God our error”—the same plea that
was made by Luther under similar circumstances. Those who are arraigned
before the courts make a strong vindication of the truth, and some who
hear them are led to take their stand to keep all the commandments of
God. Thus light will be brought before thousands who otherwise would
know nothing of these truths. Conscientious
obedience to the word of God will be treated as rebellion. Blinded by
Satan, the parent will exercise harshness and severity toward the
believing child; the master or mistress will oppress the
commandment-keeping servant. Affection will be alienated; children will
be disinherited and driven from home. The words of Paul will be
literally fulfilled: “All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall
suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12.
As the defenders of truth refuse to honor the Sunday-sabbath, some of
them will be thrust into prison, some will be exiled, some will be
treated as slaves. To human wisdom all this now seems impossible; but
as the restraining Spirit of God shall be withdrawn from men, and they
shall be under the control of Satan, who hates the divine precepts,
there will be strange developments. The heart can be very cruel when
God's fear and love are removed. As
the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the
third angel's message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to
the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition.
By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come
to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought,
they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and
pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to
deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their
former brethren. When Sabbathkeepers are brought before the courts to
answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of
Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and
insinuations to stir up the rulers against them. In
this time of persecution the faith of the Lord's servants will be
tried. They have faithfully given the warning, looking to God and to
His word alone. God's Spirit, moving upon their hearts, has constrained
them to speak. Stimulated with
holy zeal, and with the divine impulse strong upon them, they entered
upon the performance of their duties without coldly calculating the
consequences of speaking to the people the word which the Lord had given
them. They have not consulted their temporal interests, nor sought to
preserve their reputation or their lives. Yet when the storm of
opposition and reproach bursts upon them, some, overwhelmed with
consternation, will be ready to exclaim: “Had we foreseen the
consequences of our words, we would have held our peace.” They are
hedged in with difficulties. Satan assails them with fierce temptations.
The work which they have undertaken seems far beyond their ability to
accomplish. They are threatened with destruction. The enthusiasm which
animated them is gone; yet they cannot turn back. Then, feeling their
utter helplessness, they flee to the Mighty One for strength. They
remember that the words which they have spoken were not theirs, but His
who bade them give the warning. God put the truth into their hearts, and
they could not forbear to proclaim it. The
same trials have been experienced by men of God in ages past. Wycliffe,
Huss, Luther, Tyndale, Baxter, Wesley, urged that all doctrines be
brought to the test of the Bible and declared that they would renounce
everything which it condemned. Against these men persecution raged with
relentless fury; yet they ceased not to declare the truth. Different
periods in the history of the church have each been marked by the
development of some special truth, adapted to the necessities of God's
people at that time. Every new truth has made its way against hatred and
opposition; those who were blessed with its light were tempted and
tried. The Lord gives a special truth for the people in an emergency.
Who dare refuse to publish it? He commands His servants to present the
last invitation of mercy to the world. They cannot remain silent, except
at the peril of their souls. Christ's ambassadors have nothing to do
with consequences. They must perform their duty and leave results with
God. As
the opposition rises to a fiercer height, the servants of God are again
perplexed; for it seems to them that they have brought the crisis. But
conscience and the word of God assure them that their course is right;
and although the trials continue, they are strengthened to bear them.
The contest grows closer and sharper, but their faith and courage rise
with the emergency. Their testimony is: “We dare not tamper with God's
word, dividing His holy law; calling one portion essential and another
nonessential, to gain the favor of the world. The Lord whom we serve is
able to deliver us. Christ has conquered the powers of earth; and shall
we be afraid of a world already conquered?” Persecution
in its varied forms is the development of a principle which will exist
as long as Satan exists and Christianity has vital power. No man can
serve God without enlisting against himself the opposition of the hosts
of darkness. Evil angels will assail him, alarmed that his influence is
taking the prey from their hands. Evil men, rebuked by his example, will
unite with them in seeking to separate him from God by alluring
temptations. When these do not succeed, then a compelling power is
employed to force the conscience. But
so long as Jesus remains man's intercessor in the sanctuary above, the
restraining influence of the Holy Spirit is felt by rulers and people.
It still controls to some extent the laws of the land. Were it not for
these laws, the condition of the world would be much worse than it now
is. While many of our rulers are active agents of Satan, God also has
His agents among the leading men of the nation. The enemy moves upon his
servants to propose measures that would greatly impede the work of God;
but statesmen who fear the Lord are influenced by holy angels to oppose
such propositions with unanswerable arguments. Thus a few men will hold
in check a powerful current of evil. The opposition of the enemies of
truth will be restrained that the third angel's message may do its work.
When the final warning shall be given, it will arrest the attention of
these leading men through whom the Lord is now working, and some of them
will accept it, and will stand with the people of God through the time
of trouble. The
angel who unites in the proclamation of the third angel's message is to
lighten the whole earth with his glory. A work of world-wide extent and
unwonted power is here foretold. The advent movement of 1840-44 was a
glorious manifestation of the power of God; the first angel's message
was carried to every missionary station in the world, and in some
countries there was the greatest religious interest which has been
witnessed in any land since the Reformation of the sixteenth century;
but these are to be exceeded by the mighty movement under the last
warning of the third angel. The
work will be similar to that of the Day of Pentecost. As the “former
rain” was given, in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the opening of
the gospel, to cause the upspringing of the precious seed, so the
“latter rain” will be given at its close for the ripening of the
harvest. “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His
going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the
rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” Hosea 6:3.
“Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God:
for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to
come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain.” Joel 2:23.
“In the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all
flesh.” “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the
name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:17, 21. The
great work of the gospel is not to close with less manifestation of the
power of God than marked its opening. The prophecies which were
fulfilled in the outpouring of the former
rain at the opening of the gospel are again to be fulfilled in the
latter rain at its close. Here are “the times of refreshing” to which
the apostle Peter looked forward when he said: “Repent ye therefore, and
be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and He shall send
Jesus.” Acts 3:19, 20. Servants
of God, with their faces lighted up and shining with holy consecration,
will hasten from place to place to proclaim the message from heaven. By
thousands of voices, all over the earth, the warning will be given.
Miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and signs and wonders
will follow the believers. Satan also works, with lying wonders, even
bringing down fire from heaven in the sight of men. Revelation 13:13. Thus the inhabitants of the earth will be brought to take their stand. The
message will be carried not so much by argument as by the deep
conviction of the Spirit of God. The arguments have been presented. The
seed has been sown, and now it will spring up and bear fruit. The
publications distributed by missionary workers have exerted their
influence, yet many whose minds were impressed have been prevented from
fully comprehending the truth or from yielding obedience. Now the rays
of light penetrate everywhere, the truth is seen in its clearness, and
the honest children of God sever the bands which have held them. Family
connections, church relations, are powerless to stay them now. Truth is
more precious than all besides. Notwithstanding the agencies combined
against the truth, a large number take their stand upon the Lord's side.Last Day Events
Chapter 15—The Seal of God and the Mark of the Beast
Only Two Classes
There
can be only two classes. Each party is distinctly stamped, either with
the seal of the living God, or with the mark of the beast or his image.—The Review and Herald, January 30, 1900.
In
the great conflict between faith and unbelief the whole Christian world
will be involved. All will take sides. Some apparently may not engage
in the conflict on either side. They may not appear to take sides
against the truth, but they will not come out boldly for Christ through
fear of losing property or suffering reproach. All such are numbered
with the enemies of Christ.—The Review and Herald, February 7, 1893. As
we near the close of time the demarcation between the children of light
and the children of darkness will be more and more decided. They will
be more and more at variance. This difference is expressed in
the words of Christ, “born again”—created anew in Christ, dead to the
world, and alive unto God. These are the walls of separation that divide
the heavenly from the earthly and describe the difference between those
who belong to the world and those who are chosen out of it, who are
elect, precious in the sight of God.—Special Testimony to the Battle Creek Church (Ph 155), 3 (1882).Family Members Are Separated
Those
who have been members of the same family are separated. A mark is
placed upon the righteous. “They shall be Mine, saith the Lord of hosts,
in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man
spareth his own son that serveth him” [Malachi 3:17].
Those who have been obedient to God's commandments will unite with the
company of the saints in light. They shall enter in through the gates
into the city, and have right to the tree of life.
“The
one shall be taken.” His name shall stand in the book of life, while
those with whom he associated shall have the mark of eternal separation
from God.—Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, 234, 235 (1895).Judged by the Light We Have Received
Many
who have not had the privileges that we have had will go into heaven
before those who have had great light and who have not walked in it.
Many have lived up to the best light they have had and will be judged
accordingly.—Letter 36, 1895.
All
must wait for the appointed time, until the warning shall have gone to
all parts of the world, until sufficient light and evidence have been
given to every soul. Some will have less light than others, but each one
will be judged according to the light received.—Manuscript 77, 1899. We
have been given great light in regard to God's law. This law is the
standard of character. To it man is now required to conform, and by it
he will be judged in the last great day. In that day men will be dealt
with according to the light they have received.—The Gospel Herald, January, 1901 (Supplement). Those
who have had great light and have disregarded it stand in a worse
position than those who have not been given so many advantages. They
exalt themselves but not the Lord. The punishment inflicted on human
beings will in every case be proportionate to the dishonor they have
brought on God.—Manuscript Releases 8:168 (1901). Everyone is to have sufficient light to make his decision intelligently.—The Great Controversy, 605 (1911).No Excuse for Willful Blindness
None
will be condemned for not heeding light and knowledge that they never
had, and they could not obtain. But many refuse to obey the truth that
is presented to them by Christ's ambassadors, because they wish to
conform to the world's standard, and the truth that has reached their
understanding, the light that has shone in the soul, will condemn them in the judgment.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 5:1145 (1884).
Those
who have an opportunity to hear the truth and yet take no pains to hear
or understand it, thinking that if they do not hear they will not be
accountable, will be judged guilty before God the same as if they had
heard and rejected. There will be no excuse for those who choose to go
in error when they might understand what is truth. In His sufferings and
death Jesus has made atonement for all sins of ignorance, but there is
no provision made for willful blindness. We
shall not be held accountable for the light that has not reached our
perception, but for that which we have resisted and refused. A man could
not apprehend the truth which had never been presented to him, and
therefore could not be condemned for light he had never had.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 5:1145 (1893).The Importance of Practical Benevolence
The
decisions of the last day turn upon our practical benevolence. Christ
acknowledges every act of beneficence as done to Himself.—Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, 400 (1896).
When
the nations are gathered before Him, there will be but two classes, and
their eternal destiny will be determined by what they have done or have
neglected to do for Him in the person of the poor and suffering.... Among
the heathen are those who worship God ignorantly, those to whom the
light is never brought by human instrumentality, yet they will not
perish. Though
ignorant of the written law of God, they have heard His voice speaking
to them in nature, and have done the things that the law required. Their
works are evidence that the Holy Spirit has touched their hearts, and
they are recognized as the children of God. How
surprised and gladdened will be the lowly among the nations, and among
the heathen, to hear from the lips of the Saviour, “Inasmuch as ye have
done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto
Me”! How glad will be the heart of Infinite Love as His followers look
up with surprise and joy at His words of approval!—The Desire of Ages, 637, 638 (1898).Motive Gives Character to Actions
In
the day of judgment some will plead this good deed and that as a reason
why they should receive consideration. They will say, “I set up young
men in business. I gave money to found hospitals. I relieved the
necessities of widows, and took the poor into my home.” Yes, but your
motives were so defiled by selfishness that the deed was not acceptable
in the sight of the Lord. In all that you did, self was brought
prominently to view.—Manuscript 53, 1906.
It is the motive that gives character to our acts, stamping them with ignominy or with high moral worth.—The Desire of Ages, 615 (1898).What the Seal of God Is
Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads—it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but
a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they
cannot be moved—just as soon as God's people are sealed and prepared
for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 4:1161 (1902).
The seal of the living God is placed upon those who conscientiously keep the Sabbath of the Lord.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:980 (1897). [This
statement and others like it should be understood in the light of
passages quoted earlier in the chapter, indicating that God holds people
responsible only for the knowledge they have or which they could
obtain.] Those who would have the seal of God in their foreheads must keep the Sabbath of the fourth commandment.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:970 (1899). True observance of the Sabbath is the sign of loyalty to God.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:981 (1899). The fourth commandment alone of all the ten contains the seal of the great Lawgiver, the Creator of the heavens and the earth.—Testimonies for the Church 6:350 (1900). The
observance of the Lord's memorial, the Sabbath instituted in Eden, the
seventh-day Sabbath, is the test of our loyalty to God.—Letter 94, 1900. A
mark is placed upon every one of God's people, just as verily as a mark
was placed over the doors of the Hebrew dwellings to preserve the
people from the general
ruin. God declares, “I gave them My sabbaths, to be a sign between Me
and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them” [Ezekiel 20:12].—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:969 (1900).A Likeness to Christ in Character
The seal of the living God will be placed upon those only who bear a likeness to Christ in character.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:970 (1895).
Those who receive the seal of the living God and are protected in the time of trouble must reflect the image of Jesus fully.—Early Writings, 71 (1851). The
seal of God will never be placed upon the forehead of an impure man or
woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of the ambitious,
world-loving man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of
men or women of false tongues or deceitful hearts. All who receive the
seal must be without spot before God—candidates for heaven.—Testimonies for the Church 5:216 (1882). Love
is expressed in obedience, and perfect love casteth out all fear. Those
who love God, have the seal of God in their foreheads, and work the
works of God.—Sons and Daughters of God, 51 (1894). Those that overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, will be the favored ones who shall receive the seal of the living God.—Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, 445 (c. 1886). Are
we striving with all our God-given powers to reach the measure of the
stature of men and women in Christ? Are we seeking for His fullness,
ever reaching higher and higher, trying to attain to the perfection of
His character? When God's servants reach this point, they will be sealed
in their foreheads. The recording angel will declare, “It is done.”
They will be complete in Him whose they are by creation and by
redemption.—Selected Messages 3:427 (1899).In the Sealing Time Now
I
saw that the present test on the Sabbath could not come until the
mediation of Jesus in the holy place was finished and He had passed
within the second veil; therefore Christians who fell asleep before the
door was opened into the most holy, when the midnight cry was finished,
at the seventh month, 1844, and who had not kept the true Sabbath, now
rest in hope, for they had not the light and the test on the Sabbath
which we now have since that door was opened. I saw that Satan was
tempting some of God's people on this point. Because so many good
Christians have fallen asleep in the triumphs of faith and have not kept
the true Sabbath, they were doubting about its being a test for us
now....
Satan
is now using every device in this sealing time to keep the minds of
God's people from the present truth and to cause them to waver.—Early Writings, 42, 43 (1851). I
saw that she [Mrs. Hastings] was sealed and would come up at the voice
of God and stand upon the earth, and would be with the 144,000. I saw we
need not mourn for her; she would rest in the time of trouble.—Selected Messages 2:263 (1850). There
are living upon our earth men who have passed the age of fourscore and
ten. The natural results of old age are seen in their feebleness. But
they believe God, and God loves them. The seal of God is upon them, and
they will be among the number of whom the Lord has said, “Blessed are
the dead which die in the Lord.”—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:982 (1899).Oh, That God's Seal May Be Placed Upon Us!
In
a little while every one who is a child of God will have His seal
placed upon him. Oh, that it may be placed upon our foreheads! Who can
endure the thought of being passed by when the angel goes forth to seal
the servants of God in their foreheads?—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:969, 970 (1889).
If
the believers in the truth are not sustained by their faith in these
comparatively peaceful days, what will uphold them when the grand test
comes and the decree goes forth against all those who will not worship
the image of the beast and receive his mark in their foreheads or in
their hands? This solemn period is not far off. Instead of becoming weak
and irresolute, the people of God should be gathering strength and
courage for the time of trouble.—Testimonies for the Church 4:251 (1876).What the Mark of the Beast Is
John
was called to behold a people distinct from those who worship the beast
or his image by keeping the first day of the week. The observance of
this day is the mark of the beast.—Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, 133 (1898).
The mark of the beast is the papal sabbath.—Evangelism, 234 (1899). When the test comes, it will be clearly shown what the mark of the beast is. It is the keeping of Sunday.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:980 (1900). The
sign, or seal, of God is revealed in the observance of the seventh-day
Sabbath, the Lord's memorial of creation.... The mark of the beast is
the opposite of this—the observance of the first day of the week.—Testimonies for the Church 8:117 (1904). “He causeth all, both small and great, ... to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads” (Revelation 13:16). Not only are men not to work with their hands on Sunday, but with their minds are they to acknowledge Sunday as the Sabbath.—Special Testimony to Battle Creek Church (Ph 86), 6, 7 (1897).When the Mark of the Beast Is Received
No one has yet received the mark of the beast.—Evangelism, 234 (1899).
Sundaykeeping
is not yet the mark of the beast, and will not be until the decree goes
forth causing men to worship this idol sabbath. The time will come when
this day will be the test, but that time has not come yet. The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:977 (1899). God
has given men the Sabbath as a sign between Him and them as a test of
their loyalty. Those who, after the light regarding God's law comes to
them, continue to disobey and exalt human laws above the law of God in
the great crisis before us, will receive the mark of the beast.—Evangelism, 235 (1900). The
Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth
especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear
upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who
serve God and those who serve Him not. While
the observance of the false sabbath in compliance with the law of the
state, contrary to the fourth commandment, will be an avowal of
allegiance to a power that is in opposition to God, the keeping of the
true Sabbath, in obedience to God's law, is an evidence of loyalty to
the Creator. While one class, by accepting the sign of submission to
earthly powers, receive the mark of the beast, the other, choosing the
token of allegiance to divine authority, receive the seal of God.—The Great Controversy, 605 (1911).Enforcement of Sunday Observance Is the Test
None
are condemned until they have had the light and have seen the
obligation of the fourth commandment. But when the decree shall go forth
enforcing the counterfeit
sabbath, and the loud cry of the third angel shall warn men against the
worship of the beast and his image, the line will be clearly drawn
between the false and the true. Then those who still continue in
transgression will receive the mark of the beast.—Evangelism, 234, 235 (1899).
When
Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be
enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever
shall transgress the command of God to obey a precept which has no
higher authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above
God. He is paying homage to Rome, and to the power
which enforces the institution ordained by Rome. He is worshiping the
beast and his image. As
men then reject the institution which God has declared to be the sign
of His authority, and honor in its stead that which Rome has chosen as
the token of her supremacy, they will thereby accept the sign of
allegiance to Rome—“the mark of the beast.” And it is not until the
issue is thus plainly set before the people, and they are brought to
choose between the commandments of God and the commandments of men, that
those who continue in transgression will receive “the mark of the
beast.”—The Great Controversy, 449 (1911)..

Section 13—Personal Work
The Need for Personal Work
Public Effort and Personal Work—Of
equal importance with public effort is house-to-house work in the homes
of the people. As the result of the presentation of truth in large
congregations, a spirit of inquiry is awakened, and it is especially
important that this interest be followed by personal labor. Those who
desire to investigate the truth need to be taught to study diligently
the Word of God. Someone must help them to build on a sure foundation.
At this critical time in their religious experience, how important it is
that wisely directed Bible workers come to their help, and open to
their understanding the treasure house of God's Word!—Gospel Workers, 364 (1915).
Cultivate the Soil—When
a discourse is given, precious seed is sown. But if personal effort is
not made to cultivate the soil, the seed does not take root. Unless the
heart is softened and subdued by the Spirit of God, much of the
discourse is lost. Observe those in the congregation who seem to be
interested, and speak to them after the service. A few words spoken in
private will often do more good than the whole discourse has done.
Inquire how the subjects presented appear to the hearers, whether the
matter is clear to their minds. By kindness and courtesy show that you have a real interest in them and a care for their souls.—Testimonies for the Church 6:68 (1900). Come Close to Individuals—In
Christlike sympathy the minister should come close to men individually,
and seek to awaken their interest in the great things of eternal life.
Their hearts may be as hard as the beaten highway, and apparently it may
be a useless effort to present the Saviour to them; but while logic
may fail to move, and argument be powerless to convince, the love of
Christ, revealed in personal ministry, may soften the stony heart, so
that the seed of truth can take root.—Gospel Workers, 185 (1915). Places to Be Worked, Not Just Preached To—The
cities are to be worked, not merely preached to; there must be
house-to-house labor. After the warning has been given, after the truth
has been presented from the Scriptures, many souls will be convicted.—The Review and Herald, October 14, 1902. Less Sermonizing, More Personal Work—If
one half of the sermonizing were done, and double the amount of
personal labor given to souls in their homes and in the congregations, a
result would be seen that would be surprising.—Manuscript 139, 1897. Opportunities Lost—When
personal work is neglected, many precious opportunities are lost,
which, were they improved, would advance the work decidedly.—Gospel Workers, 364 (1915). Souls Perishing for Lack of Personal Work—We
may speak words of encouragement to those whom we meet. “A word spoken
in season, how good is it!” Souls are perishing for the lack of personal
labor.—Letter 151, 1903. Instant in and out of Season—The minister must be
instant in season and out of season, ready to seize and improve every
opportunity to further the work of God. To be “instant in season” is to
be alert to the privileges of the house and hour of worship, and to the
times when men are conversing on topics of religion. And to be instant
“out of season” is to be ready, when at the fireside, in the field, by
the wayside, in the market, to turn the minds of men, in a suitable
manner, to the great themes of the Bible, with tender, fervent spirit
urging upon them the claims of God. Many, many such opportunities are
allowed to slip by unimproved, because men are persuaded that it is out
of season. But who knows what might be the effect of a wise appeal to
the conscience?—Gospel Workers, 186-187(1915). Love Souls as Christ Loved—We
are called upon to love souls as Christ loved them, to feel a travail
of soul that sinners shall be converted. Present the matchless love of
Christ. Hide self out of sight.—Manuscript 42, 1898..

VI. SACRAMENTAL SIGNS AND THE CELEBRATION OF REST Quoting From LAUDATO SI'{233.
The universe unfolds in God, who fills it completely. Hence, there is a
mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a
dewdrop, in a poor person’s face.[159] The ideal is not only to pass
from the exterior to the interior to discover the action of God in the
soul, but also to discover God in all things. Saint Bonaventure teaches
us that “contemplation deepens the more we feel the working of God’s
grace within our hearts, and the better we learn to encounter God in
creatures outside ourselves”.[160]
III. ECOLOGICAL CONVERSION
216. The rich heritage of Christian spirituality, the fruit of twenty centuries of personal and communal experience, has a precious contribution to make to the renewal of humanity. Here, I would like to offer Christians a few suggestions for an ecological spirituality grounded in the convictions of our faith, since the teachings of the Gospel have direct consequences for our way of thinking, feeling and living. More than in ideas or concepts as such, I am interested in how such a spirituality can motivate us to a more passionate concern for the protection of our world. A commitment this lofty cannot be sustained by doctrine alone, without a spirituality capable of inspiring us, without an “interior impulse which encourages, motivates, nourishes and gives meaning to our individual and communal activity”.[151] Admittedly, Christians have not always appropriated and developed the spiritual treasures bestowed by God upon the Church, where the life of the spirit is not dissociated from the body or from nature or from worldly realities, but lived in and with them, in communion with all that surrounds us.
217. “The external deserts in the world are growing, because the internal deserts have become so vast”.[152] For this reason, the ecological crisis is also a summons to profound interior conversion. It must be said that some committed and prayerful Christians, with the excuse of realism and pragmatism, tend to ridicule expressions of concern for the environment. Others are passive; they choose not to change their habits and thus become inconsistent. So what they all need is an “ecological conversion”, whereby the effects of their encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in their relationship with the world around them. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.
218. In calling to mind the figure of Saint Francis of Assisi, we come to realize that a healthy relationship with creation is one dimension of overall personal conversion, which entails the recognition of our errors, sins, faults and failures, and leads to heartfelt repentance and desire to change. The Australian bishops spoke of the importance of such conversion for achieving reconciliation with creation: “To achieve such reconciliation, we must examine our lives and acknowledge the ways in which we have harmed God’s creation through our actions and our failure to act. We need to experience a conversion, or change of heart”.[153]
219. Nevertheless, self-improvement on the part of individuals will not by itself remedy the extremely complex situation facing our world today. Isolated individuals can lose their ability and freedom to escape the utilitarian mindset, and end up prey to an unethical consumerism bereft of social or ecological awareness. Social problems must be addressed by community networks and not simply by the sum of individual good deeds. This task “will make such tremendous demands of man that he could never achieve it by individual initiative or even by the united effort of men bred in an individualistic way. The work of dominating the world calls for a union of skills and a unity of achievement that can only grow from quite a different attitude”.[154] The ecological conversion needed to bring about lasting change is also a community conversion.
220. This conversion calls for a number of attitudes which together foster a spirit of generous care, full of tenderness. First, it entails gratitude and gratuitousness, a recognition that the world is God’s loving gift, and that we are called quietly to imitate his generosity in self-sacrifice and good works: “Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing… and your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Mt 6:3-4). It also entails a loving awareness that we are not disconnected from the rest of creatures, but joined in a splendid universal communion. As believers, we do not look at the world from without but from within, conscious of the bonds with which the Father has linked us to all beings. By developing our individual, God-given capacities, an ecological conversion can inspire us to greater creativity and enthusiasm in resolving the world’s problems and in offering ourselves to God “as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable” (Rom 12:1). We do not understand our superiority as a reason for personal glory or irresponsible dominion, but rather as a different capacity which, in its turn, entails a serious responsibility stemming from our faith.
221. Various convictions of our faith, developed at the beginning of this Encyclical can help us to enrich the meaning of this conversion. These include the awareness that each creature reflects something of God and has a message to convey to us, and the security that Christ has taken unto himself this material world and now, risen, is intimately present to each being, surrounding it with his affection and penetrating it with his light. Then too, there is the recognition that God created the world, writing into it an order and a dynamism that human beings have no right to ignore. We read in the Gospel that Jesus says of the birds of the air that “not one of them is forgotten before God” (Lk12:6). How then can we possibly mistreat them or cause them harm? I ask all Christians to recognize and to live fully this dimension of their conversion. May the power and the light of the grace we have received also be evident in our relationship to other creatures and to the world around us. In this way, we will help nurture that sublime fraternity with all creation which Saint Francis of Assisi so radiantly embodied.
IV. JOY AND PEACE
222. Christian spirituality proposes an alternative understanding of the quality of life, and encourages a prophetic and contemplative lifestyle, one capable of deep enjoyment free of the obsession with consumption. We need to take up an ancient lesson, found in different religious traditions and also in the Bible. It is the conviction that “less is more”. A constant flood of new consumer goods can baffle the heart and prevent us from cherishing each thing and each moment. To be serenely present to each reality, however small it may be, opens us to much greater horizons of understanding and personal fulfilment. Christian spirituality proposes a growth marked by moderation and the capacity to be happy with little. It is a return to that simplicity which allows us to stop and appreciate the small things, to be grateful for the opportunities which life affords us, to be spiritually detached from what we possess, and not to succumb to sadness for what we lack. This implies avoiding the dynamic of dominion and the mere accumulation of pleasures.
223. Such sobriety, when lived freely and consciously, is liberating. It is not a lesser life or one lived with less intensity. On the contrary, it is a way of living life to the full. In reality, those who enjoy more and live better each moment are those who have given up dipping here and there, always on the look-out for what they do not have. They experience what it means to appreciate each person and each thing, learning familiarity with the simplest things and how to enjoy them. So they are able to shed unsatisfied needs, reducing their obsessiveness and weariness. Even living on little, they can live a lot, above all when they cultivate other pleasures and find satisfaction in fraternal encounters, in service, in developing their gifts, in music and art, in contact with nature, in prayer. Happiness means knowing how to limit some needs which only diminish us, and being open to the many different possibilities which life can offer.
224. Sobriety and humility were not favourably regarded in the last century. And yet, when there is a general breakdown in the exercise of a certain virtue in personal and social life, it ends up causing a number of imbalances, including environmental ones. That is why it is no longer enough to speak only of the integrity of ecosystems. We have to dare to speak of the integrity of human life, of the need to promote and unify all the great values. Once we lose our humility, and become enthralled with the possibility of limitless mastery over everything, we inevitably end up harming society and the environment. It is not easy to promote this kind of healthy humility or happy sobriety when we consider ourselves autonomous, when we exclude God from our lives or replace him with our own ego, and think that our subjective feelings can define what is right and what is wrong.
225. On the other hand, no one can cultivate a sober and satisfying life without being at peace with him or herself. An adequate understanding of spirituality consists in filling out what we mean by peace, which is much more than the absence of war. Inner peace is closely related to care for ecology and for the common good because, lived out authentically, it is reflected in a balanced lifestyle together with a capacity for wonder which takes us to a deeper understanding of life. Nature is filled with words of love, but how can we listen to them amid constant noise, interminable and nerve-wracking distractions, or the cult of appearances? Many people today sense a profound imbalance which drives them to frenetic activity and makes them feel busy, in a constant hurry which in turn leads them to ride rough-shod over everything around them. This too affects how they treat the environment. An integral ecology includes taking time to recover a serene harmony with creation, reflecting on our lifestyle and our ideals, and contemplating the Creator who lives among us and surrounds us, whose presence “must not be contrived but found, uncovered”.[155]
226. We are speaking of an attitude of the heart, one which approaches life with serene attentiveness, which is capable of being fully present to someone without thinking of what comes next, which accepts each moment as a gift from God to be lived to the full. Jesus taught us this attitude when he invited us to contemplate the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, or when seeing the rich young man and knowing his restlessness, “he looked at him with love” (Mk 10:21). He was completely present to everyone and to everything, and in this way he showed us the way to overcome that unhealthy anxiety which makes us superficial, aggressive and compulsive consumers.
227. One expression of this attitude is when we stop and give thanks to God before and after meals. I ask all believers to return to this beautiful and meaningful custom. That moment of blessing, however brief, reminds us of our dependence on God for life; it strengthens our feeling of gratitude for the gifts of creation; it acknowledges those who by their labours provide us with these goods; and it reaffirms our solidarity with those in greatest need.
V. CIVIC AND POLITICAL LOVE
228. Care for nature is part of a lifestyle which includes the capacity for living together and communion. Jesus reminded us that we have God as our common Father and that this makes us brothers and sisters. Fraternal love can only be gratuitous; it can never be a means of repaying others for what they have done or will do for us. That is why it is possible to love our enemies. This same gratuitousness inspires us to love and accept the wind, the sun and the clouds, even though we cannot control them. In this sense, we can speak of a “universal fraternity”.
229. We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it. We have had enough of immorality and the mockery of ethics, goodness, faith and honesty. It is time to acknowledge that light-hearted superficiality has done us no good. When the foundations of social life are corroded, what ensues are battles over conflicting interests, new forms of violence and brutality, and obstacles to the growth of a genuine culture of care for the environment.
230. Saint Therese of Lisieux invites us to practise the little way of love, not to miss out on a kind word, a smile or any small gesture which sows peace and friendship. An integral ecology is also made up of simple daily gestures which break with the logic of violence, exploitation and selfishness. In the end, a world of exacerbated consumption is at the same time a world which mistreats life in all its forms.
231. Love, overflowing with small gestures of mutual care, is also civic and political, and it makes itself felt in every action that seeks to build a better world. Love for society and commitment to the common good are outstanding expressions of a charity which affects not only relationships between individuals but also “macro-relationships, social, economic and political ones”.[156] That is why the Church set before the world the ideal of a “civilization of love”.[157] Social love is the key to authentic development: “In order to make society more human, more worthy of the human person, love in social life – political, economic and cultural – must be given renewed value, becoming the constant and highest norm for all activity”.[158] In this framework, along with the importance of little everyday gestures, social love moves us to devise larger strategies to halt environmental degradation and to encourage a “culture of care” which permeates all of society. When we feel that God is calling us to intervene with others in these social dynamics, we should realize that this too is part of our spirituality, which is an exercise of charity and, as such, matures and sanctifies us.
232. Not everyone is called to engage directly in political life. Society is also enriched by a countless array of organizations which work to promote the common good and to defend the environment, whether natural or urban. Some, for example, show concern for a public place (a building, a fountain, an abandoned monument, a landscape, a square), and strive to protect, restore, improve or beautify it as something belonging to everyone. Around these community actions, relationships develop or are recovered and a new social fabric emerges. Thus, a community can break out of the indifference induced by consumerism. These actions cultivate a shared identity, with a story which can be remembered and handed on. In this way, the world, and the quality of life of the poorest, are cared for, with a sense of solidarity which is at the same time aware that we live in a common home which God has entrusted to us. These community actions, when they express self-giving love, can also become intense spiritual experiences.
VI. SACRAMENTAL SIGNS AND THE CELEBRATION OF REST
233. The universe unfolds in God, who fills it completely. Hence, there is a mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a dewdrop, in a poor person’s face.[159] The ideal is not only to pass from the exterior to the interior to discover the action of God in the soul, but also to discover God in all things. Saint Bonaventure teaches us that “contemplation deepens the more we feel the working of God’s grace within our hearts, and the better we learn to encounter God in creatures outside ourselves”.[160]
234. Saint John of the Cross taught that all the goodness present in the realities and experiences of this world “is present in God eminently and infinitely, or more properly, in each of these sublime realities is God”.[161] This is not because the finite things of this world are really divine, but because the mystic experiences the intimate connection between God and all beings, and thus feels that “all things are God”.[162] Standing awestruck before a mountain, he or she cannot separate this experience from God, and perceives that the interior awe being lived has to be entrusted to the Lord: “Mountains have heights and they are plentiful, vast, beautiful, graceful, bright and fragrant. These mountains are what my Beloved is to me. Lonely valleys are quiet, pleasant, cool, shady and flowing with fresh water; in the variety of their groves and in the sweet song of the birds, they afford abundant recreation and delight to the senses, and in their solitude and silence, they refresh us and give rest. These valleys are what my Beloved is to me”.[163]
235. The Sacraments are a privileged way in which nature is taken up by God to become a means of mediating supernatural life. Through our worship of God, we are invited to embrace the world on a different plane. Water, oil, fire and colours are taken up in all their symbolic power and incorporated in our act of praise. The hand that blesses is an instrument of God’s love and a reflection of the closeness of Jesus Christ, who came to accompany us on the journey of life. Water poured over the body of a child in Baptism is a sign of new life. Encountering God does not mean fleeing from this world or turning our back on nature. This is especially clear in the spirituality of the Christian East. “Beauty, which in the East is one of the best loved names expressing the divine harmony and the model of humanity transfigured, appears everywhere: in the shape of a church, in the sounds, in the colours, in the lights, in the scents”.[164] For Christians, all the creatures of the material universe find their true meaning in the incarnate Word, for the Son of God has incorporated in his person part of the material world, planting in it a seed of definitive transformation. “Christianity does not reject matter. Rather, bodiliness is considered in all its value in the liturgical act, whereby the human body is disclosed in its inner nature as a temple of the Holy Spirit and is united with the Lord Jesus, who himself took a body for the world’s salvation”.[165]
236. It is in the Eucharist that all that has been created finds its greatest exaltation. Grace, which tends to manifest itself tangibly, found unsurpassable expression when God himself became man and gave himself as food for his creatures. The Lord, in the culmination of the mystery of the Incarnation, chose to reach our intimate depths through a fragment of matter. He comes not from above, but from within, he comes that we might find him in this world of ours. In the Eucharist, fullness is already achieved; it is the living centre of the universe, the overflowing core of love and of inexhaustible life. Joined to the incarnate Son, present in the Eucharist, the whole cosmos gives thanks to God. Indeed the Eucharist is itself an act of cosmic love: “Yes, cosmic! Because even when it is celebrated on the humble altar of a country church, the Eucharist is always in some way celebrated on the altar of the world”.[166] The Eucharist joins heaven and earth; it embraces and penetrates all creation. The world which came forth from God’s hands returns to him in blessed and undivided adoration: in the bread of the Eucharist, “creation is projected towards divinization, towards the holy wedding feast, towards unification with the Creator himself”.[167] Thus, the Eucharist is also a source of light and motivation for our concerns for the environment, directing us to be stewards of all creation.
237. On Sunday, our participation in the Eucharist has special importance. Sunday, like the Jewish Sabbath, is meant to be a day which heals our relationships with God, with ourselves, with others and with the world. Sunday is the day of the Resurrection, the “first day” of the new creation, whose first fruits are the Lord’s risen humanity, the pledge of the final transfiguration of all created reality. It also proclaims “man’s eternal rest in God”.[168] In this way, Christian spirituality incorporates the value of relaxation and festivity. We tend to demean contemplative rest as something unproductive and unnecessary, but this is to do away with the very thing which is most important about work: its meaning. We are called to include in our work a dimension of receptivity and gratuity, which is quite different from mere inactivity. Rather, it is another way of working, which forms part of our very essence. It protects human action from becoming empty activism; it also prevents that unfettered greed and sense of isolation which make us seek personal gain to the detriment of all else. The law of weekly rest forbade work on the seventh day, “so that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your maidservant, and the stranger, may be refreshed” (Ex 23:12). Rest opens our eyes to the larger picture and gives us renewed sensitivity to the rights of others. And so the day of rest, centred on the Eucharist, sheds it light on the whole week, and motivates us to greater concern for nature and the poor.
VII. THE TRINITY AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CREATURES
238. The Father is the ultimate source of everything, the loving and self-communicating foundation of all that exists. The Son, his reflection, through whom all things were created, united himself to this earth when he was formed in the womb of Mary. The Spirit, infinite bond of love, is intimately present at the very heart of the universe, inspiring and bringing new pathways. The world was created by the three Persons acting as a single divine principle, but each one of them performed this common work in accordance with his own personal property. Consequently, “when we contemplate with wonder the universe in all its grandeur and beauty, we must praise the whole Trinity”.[169]
239. For Christians, believing in one God who is trinitarian communion suggests that the Trinity has left its mark on all creation. Saint Bonaventure went so far as to say that human beings, before sin, were able to see how each creature “testifies that God is three”. The reflection of the Trinity was there to be recognized in nature “when that book was open to man and our eyes had not yet become darkened”.[170] The Franciscan saint teaches us that each creature bears in itself a specifically Trinitarian structure, so real that it could be readily contemplated if only the human gaze were not so partial, dark and fragile. In this way, he points out to us the challenge of trying to read reality in a Trinitarian key.
240. The divine Persons are subsistent relations, and the world, created according to the divine model, is a web of relationships. Creatures tend towards God, and in turn it is proper to every living being to tend towards other things, so that throughout the universe we can find any number of constant and secretly interwoven relationships.[171] This leads us not only to marvel at the manifold connections existing among creatures, but also to discover a key to our own fulfilment. The human person grows more, matures more and is sanctified more to the extent that he or she enters into relationships, going out from themselves to live in communion with God, with others and with all creatures. In this way, they make their own that trinitarian dynamism which God imprinted in them when they were created. Everything is interconnected, and this invites us to develop a spirituality of that global solidarity which flows from the mystery of the Trinity.
VIII. QUEEN OF ALL CREATION
241. Mary, the Mother who cared for Jesus, now cares with maternal affection and pain for this wounded world. Just as her pierced heart mourned the death of Jesus, so now she grieves for the sufferings of the crucified poor and for the creatures of this world laid waste by human power. Completely transfigured, she now lives with Jesus, and all creatures sing of her fairness. She is the Woman, “clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (Rev 12:1). Carried up into heaven, she is the Mother and Queen of all creation. In her glorified body, together with the Risen Christ, part of creation has reached the fullness of its beauty. She treasures the entire life of Jesus in her heart (cf. Lk 2:19,51), and now understands the meaning of all things. Hence, we can ask her to enable us to look at this world with eyes of wisdom.
242. At her side in the Holy Family of Nazareth, stands the figure of Saint Joseph. Through his work and generous presence, he cared for and defended Mary and Jesus, delivering them from the violence of the unjust by bringing them to Egypt. The Gospel presents Joseph as a just man, hard-working and strong. But he also shows great tenderness, which is not a mark of the weak but of those who are genuinely strong, fully aware of reality and ready to love and serve in humility. That is why he was proclaimed custodian of the universal Church. He too can teach us how to show care; he can inspire us to work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us.
IX. BEYOND THE SUN
243. At the end, we will find ourselves face to face with the infinite beauty of God (cf. 1 Cor 13:12), and be able to read with admiration and happiness the mystery of the universe, which with us will share in unending plenitude. Even now we are journeying towards the sabbath of eternity, the new Jerusalem, towards our common home in heaven. Jesus says: “I make all things new” (Rev 21:5). Eternal life will be a shared experience of awe, in which each creature, resplendently transfigured, will take its rightful place and have something to give those poor men and women who will have been liberated once and for all.
244. In the meantime, we come together to take charge of this home which has been entrusted to us, knowing that all the good which exists here will be taken up into the heavenly feast. In union with all creatures, we journey through this land seeking God, for “if the world has a beginning and if it has been created, we must enquire who gave it this beginning, and who was its Creator”.[172] Let us sing as we go. May our struggles and our concern for this planet never take away the joy of our hope.
245. God, who calls us to generous commitment and to give him our all, offers us the light and the strength needed to continue on our way. In the heart of this world, the Lord of life, who loves us so much, is always present. He does not abandon us, he does not leave us alone, for he has united himself definitively to our earth, and his love constantly impels us to find new ways forward. Praise be to him!
246. At the conclusion of this lengthy reflection which has been both joyful and troubling, I propose that we offer two prayers. The first we can share with all who believe in a God who is the all-powerful Creator, while in the other we Christians ask for inspiration to take up the commitment to creation set before us by the Gospel of Jesus.
A prayer for our earth
All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle
for justice, love and peace.
A Christian prayer in union with creation
Father, we praise you with all your creatures.
They came forth from your all-powerful hand;
they are yours, filled with your presence and your tender love.
Praise be to you!
Son of God, Jesus,
through you all things were made.
You were formed in the womb of Mary our Mother,
you became part of this earth,
and you gazed upon this world with human eyes.
Today you are alive in every creature
in your risen glory.
Praise be to you!
Holy Spirit, by your light
you guide this world towards the Father’s love
and accompany creation as it groans in travail.
You also dwell in our hearts
and you inspire us to do what is good.
Praise be to you!
Triune Lord, wondrous community of infinite love,
teach us to contemplate you
in the beauty of the universe,
for all things speak of you.
Awaken our praise and thankfulness
for every being that you have made.
Give us the grace to feel profoundly joined
to everything that is.
God of love, show us our place in this world
as channels of your love
for all the creatures of this earth,
for not one of them is forgotten in your sight.
Enlighten those who possess power and money
that they may avoid the sin of indifference,
that they may love the common good, advance the weak,
and care for this world in which we live.
The poor and the earth are crying out.
O Lord, seize us with your power and light,
help us to protect all life,
to prepare for a better future,
for the coming of your Kingdom
of justice, peace, love and beauty.
Praise be to you!
Amen.

Confirming that Ellen White prophesied that these incidents would occur: Sunday Law to combat Climate Change; As Jesus Christ used children to preach the word of prophecy before the crisis at the cross, so Satan and the anti-christ power uses children to promote the Sunday Law agenda; Strikes are common; Trade and Labor Unions are sympathetic to the Global Student Strike for Climate Change; It is time for Country Living & Aggressive Evangelism. 1:24:44 - 1:47:57 9. Video: “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says it is 'legitimate' for young people to ask if they should have children because of the threat of climate change.” 1:47:58 - 1:52:39 10. TO BE CONTINUED. The Send & SDA One Project same Devil.SAU:Doctrinal Certainty Dangerous.SDA Hospital teach Mysticism
1. The Call & The Send are fulfilling 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; The Great Controversy, page 464. 0:01 - 5:42 2. The Pentecostal Revival was based on the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32. The Counterfeit Revival that will precede the Genuine Revival will also be based on Joel 2 and Acts 2. 5:43 - 13:03 3. Bible Study: What does it mean to “Call Upon The Name of the Lord?” 13:04 - 39:40 4. The Call & The Send are a ‘New Jesus Movement’ without obedience to God’s Ten Commandments. The One Project Movement is similar with its slogan ‘Jesus…Full Stop…All…Full Stop.’ Here are the Biblical doctrines and standards that the One Project despises and tramples underfoot. 39:41 - 55:15 5. David Ferguson, senior pastor at the Collegedale Church, spoke at the One Project. “Ferguson spoke about the dangers of maintaining a doctrine of certainty, and how it is not only acceptable but often necessary to be uncertain about things in order to keep looking forward.” David Ferguson’s statement is contrary to scripture and is a gross misrepresentation of Jesus. It is evident that these SDA leaders have been spotted by the philosophy of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and Satan. 55:16 - 1:01:24 6. The Call & The Send emphasize ‘signs, wonders, miracles, and healing.’ The One Project and similar SDA Institutions and groups promote Spiritual Formation, Contemplative Prayer, Centering Prayer, Yoga, Eastern Meditation and Mysticism. The One Project invited Leonard Sweet as a special guest speaker to address SDA adults and youth. 1:01:25 - 1:04:44 7. Video: Who is Leonard Sweet? What does he believe and teach. Discover the dangerous philosophy of Entheism & Deconstruction(ism), fulfilling Matthew 24:24. 1:01:25 - 1:12:08 8. Video: Contemplative Prayer, which is being taught within many SDA institutions under various disguises, continues to promulgate Satan’s lies from Genesis 3:1-7. Richard Foster’s book was a part of the curriculum for pastors in SDA schools. 1:12:09 - 1:16:11 9. Video: The philosophy of Cosmic Evolution is one of the fulfillments of The Great Controversy, page 554. Beware of the philosophy regarding ‘I-AMness.’ The natural immortality of the soul teaches that the dead lives on in the spirit world and is conscious. ‘I-AMness’ teaches also that we were alive in the spirit world centuries before we were conceived in the womb and birthed. 1:16:12 - 1:22:13 10. Video: Leonard Sweet teaches that “One can be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ without denying the flickers of the sacred in followers of Yahweh, or Kali, or Krishna.” 1:22:14 - 1:23:10 11. Audio: How can someone who has never meditated start a routine? Nurse Rose Melendez (RN is the head of the Emergency Department and Nursing Administration at Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital): Sit quietly and close your eyes. Breathe slowly. Relax all of your muscles, beginning with your feet, legs, and thighs. Shrug your shoulders and roll your neck to the left and then right. With each exhale, say a word or phrase out loud or to yourself. When your thoughts wander, simply go back to repeating the pattern, and focus on your breath. Start with repeating this for two minutes and work up to 10 minutes.” 1:23:11 - 1:27:57 12. Video: Ken Wilbur: The Yoga Masters say it’s your breath being consistent, it’s your connection with God, regardless of the pose you find yourself in; that’s integrating the ‘Divine’ into the daily, humanity. 1:27:58 - 1:30:15 13. Spiritualism and mysticism within the SDA institutions will lead to COEXIST. Both Apostate Protestants and Popery are promoting COEXIST & Nature Worship. 1:30:16 - 1:36:45. 14. TO BE CONTINUED. LUKE 21:28. MARANATHA!2019 WARNING: Christian Persecution Is Coming to America!
Jesus warned that when the abomination of desolation appears Christians will need to flee the cities. This was partially fulfilled in AD 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman army. Christians fled Jerusalem and saved their lives. But this has an end time application, as well. When the future abomination of desolation happens, persecution of Bible-believing Christians will break out in the United States of America and then the rest of the world. At that time, Christians will need to flee the cities to save their lives.
