Dear Friends, As a champion for true collaboration, African Diaspora Network has been a launchpad and incredible organization that has fostered deeper connections among Africans, diasporans, and friends of Africa. ADN has convened over 2,000 individuals through local and national convenings, the results of which have cultivated new partnerships, ventures, funding opportunities, and ideas turned to enterprises. One of our most prominent success stories is Gebeya, a new-age EdTech company that trains, hires, and cultivates the top talented African software engineers. Co-founders of Gebeya met through the very first African Diaspora Investment Symposium -- their successful enterprise is an example of the power of the African Diaspora Network. Spotlight on Builders of Africa's Future 2019

Navalayo Osembo-Ombati, Enda Athletic, Inc. "Making this shoe will be a big milestone not just for Enda but also for Kenya, as it will be a great example of high-quality products coming from Africa that can compete in the global market. It will also be another step in improving the economy and reducing poverty levels in the country."

Navalayo Osembo-Ombati, co-founder of Enda Athletic, Inc., started Enda three years ago with the aim of bringing Kenya’s athletic greatness to runners around the world in the form of jobs, skills development, and investing in community-led projects in places where we work. Enda had great success in its first product, the Enda “Iten”, a lightweight trainer named after a small town in Kenya’s Rift Valley that has the world’s highest concentration of gold medalist runners. Over 4,000 pairs have been sold across the world. This year, they just launched their second product, the “Lapatet,” a best-in-class daily trainer on Kickstarter.

Nava and her team are raising $80,000 on Kickstarter, to help offset high capital expenses necessary to build the shoes. In addition to supporting the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, other key asks include: Investment of $250,000, either in debt or equity to invest mainly in marketing, inventory and working capital; and Mentorship in digital marketing. This event follows the UK release of Damon’s book What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You   Blacker, a funny and provocative chronicle of his efforts to survive while battling and making sense of the various neuroses his country has given him. The stages of the Young Vic have always been a place dedicated to asking the most profound questions in artistically compelling ways. The goal of YV:ID  is to continue to catalyse these debates, and we are excited to support this effort and hope that you will join us for our first collaboration.
